About Us

“Our mission is to build a Whanau of awesome people helping each other – together with us, to feel better – in every way”. Aaron & Kimberley.

Our Gym

Hale Health Centre is open 24 hours, 7 days a week for full members to enjoy. Not all hours are staffed, but we have staff available during standard business hours and encourage members to get to know us!

Our fitness classes are so much fun – wear whatever you are comfortable with and come along – we take you as we find you & try our hardest to help you achieve your goals, whatever they may be.

Often members join wanting relax-time for themself, and sometimes people want to bulk up or slim down. Our job is to guide you to where you want to be, safely and to have fun in the process!

Life is a journey, and as Aaron likes to say, “The way to get started is to quit talking and being doing”

“Finally, A Holistic Gym Culture Placing Emphasis on The Connection Between Mind, Body & Soul – Where Everyone Feels Welcome.

Hale Health Centre opened in June 2016 when Aaron and Kimberley returned to Hamilton from Australia on a mission to change lives.

Aaron & Kimberely both have a passion for Holistic Health – placing emphasis on the connection of mind, body & spirit,  supporting overall wellness & preventing illness.

It is from this belief that Hale Health Centre was born.

If you’re wondering “How the heck did Ashleigh Berryman get a job at a gym?!” Yeah same bro! Never in a million years did I think this would happen. But you’re drawn where you’re meant to be and for now, I am here at Hale every Tuesday night!  I have been chipping away at an end goal to be a midwife and am currently working as a Kaiāwhina teaching Māmā how to help their baby sleep, breast/bottle feed, develop and live healthy lives. On the side I am a photographer, clean homes, sell baking and now work here inviting back all of our friends who we miss dearly!  OH! I’m also a Māmā myself.

I’m not a very inspirational person so I don’t have a great quote to share but I have something I say all the time so I’ll share that.  I say this to my kids when they fall over, when they make a mistake, or when they need encouragement (I’m not affectionate).  So, when you need some love and support, don’t come to me because all I’ll say is –

“Rub it off, you’ll be right”

Rachel
Gym Manager

Rachel grew up in a little town called Ngatea in the Hauraki Plains.  Her passion for health & fitness began back in 2004 when she joined the gym for the first time.  She loved the experience of feeling good and the staff were so motivating that she naturally found a new passion and become a personal trainer after spending years as a qualified graphic designer.

Rachel is bubbly, loves being around people and working alongside people who are on a journey of discovering themselves through being active.  It is very rewarding watching people step outside their comfort zone, grow in confidence, make positive, healthy lifestyle changes and feel good about themselves.

Rachel juggles the busy life of a working mum with her three beautiful children.  She loves pizza and her favourite form of exercise is boxing and weight training.

Her advice to anyone wanting to get fit and healthy is “a little bit of something is better than a whole lot of nothing!” and “make exercise your friend, that one friend you love seeing on a regular basis, not that friend you see once a year.”

Ryleigh

Personal Trainer

Ryleigh hails from the mighty Bay of Plenty in a little town called Kawerau.

It’s here that she developed a passion for sports with her focus for the past few years being rugby. She currently plays for Melville and Waikato Women in the centres.  It was through her sports and injuries that came with it that she decided moving into the Health and Fitness Industry would not only benefit others but also herself.

Ryleigh comes to us with an extensive background in sport and exercise, having completed her Certificate in Health and Fitness Leadership and Bachelor in Sport and Exercise Science. She also has many years of work experience behind her with a focus on youth development, and strength and conditioning, and functional exercise.

When she’s not busy at the gym or training for rugby she’s out walking her best friend, Hulk, and enjoying the odd piece of fried chicken when she feels like she’s earnt it.

One of the most rewarding parts to working in the health and fitness industry is seeing the growth and confidence in clients as they progress,,whether it be mastering a squat or bend pattern, or them turning up to regular fitness sessions per week.

So whether you are 14 or 94, starting at the gym for the first time ever or an experienced athlete, then Ryleigh is the one to see to help get you moving in the right direction.

Bronson
Massage Therapist

For the last 3 years, I have worked as a mobile massage therapist across the Waikato helping people recover from aches and pains or just relax and switch off.

I believe massage is important as it offers a holistic approach to health and caring for the mind and body through stress relief, improving circulation, soothing tired and sore muscles, preventing injury, along with a whole range of other benefits.

My wife and I have two children who keep us busy with the many sports and activities they get involved with all year round, I wouldn’t have it any other way  I enjoy fishing with my family, bush walks, boogie boarding, or any type of competition with my kids.

I’m a give it a crack kind of guy, I enjoy the challenge of learning new skills, whether it be to upskill my massage knowledge or just install a new mixer tap in the kitchen.

I look forward to meeting you all and helping you to achieve your goals!

Born and bred in Kirikiriroa. Always loved being active as well as balancing that with some R&R, with family and friends.

You will either find me at the gym, at home having a movie marathon with my family or on the water paddling, standup paddling, fishing with my husband or doing Manu’s at kawhia wharf with my kids.

I love helping people find that thing inside them they never thought was possible. Sometimes it just takes that little push and there I am.

I’m here for the good times and hard times to whisper

in your ear, time to put in the work!

JOHN DE VEGA
GROUP INSTRUCTOR

My fitness journey began in 2013, spent several years at a normal gym. Since 2015 I moved to a new gym, something like HALE, and I was hooked.

I have been part of group fitness training for the last five years. I was involved in taking some of the classes at my previous gym. I enjoyed helping and coaching people to achieve their fitness goals. I feel it is very rewarding and a motivator for me when I see people working hard during a workout.

I have completed a certificate in group fitness coaching and on top of that I have 5+ years of experience in group fitness training. In the last five years, I was able to accomplish many achievements.

Here are a few things:
-lose about 20kgs
-a new mindset in eating
-grow a love for group fitness
-completed King and Queen of the mountain
-Top 10 finish in O rock event
-completed Tough Mudder

I’m hoping before I am too old that I will be able to complete a full marathon and maybe do the King and Queen of the mountain again.

In terms of my fitness focus and goals, I am all about the long game. Thinking about how I can stay fit physically for as long as possible, without getting too many injuries. I’m a big believer in recovery, rest, stretching.

My wife and I have three boys and I want to show my boys that I can still run and play at the age of 60.

I am a friendly, soft-spoken person when I’m not coaching. I like to have a laugh and have fun. I am a teacher, I have been teaching for 7 years. I’m looking forward to this new journey and hoping to share, my knowledge and experience with you.

Asher

Personal Trainer / Gym Instructor

I love to train but only got fully into it after high school, always played basketball and also having a background of fitness which grew into a love of training came from working out with my Dad, but 3 years ago I  found my passion for training and helping others to feel better about themselves.

I am currently studying for my Certificate in Personal Training and this will help me not only as a Group Instructor but a Personal Trainer, so I can get to know new people and help them train and be a part of bettering their lives.

My journey throughout fitness has been a long road but is worth my time and effort.

I enjoy attending church, eating and hanging out with family and friends.

My belief is to not compare ourselves to others and to focus on yourself as we are all on the same journey.

Physiotherapist Hamilton
Dan
Physiotherapist

I have been a physio for 17 years and am passionate about helping people restore function and rehab from their injuries.

After graduating from AUT in 2003 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Physio),  I worked in south Auckland in private practice and worked with various local and national sports teams including touring with the NZ Breakers, and working with the Samoan 7s team in 2005 and 2006. A highlight during this period was attending the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games with Samoa.

I moved to the UK with my wife Zoe in 2006 and ended up in Edinburgh working full time for the Scottish Rugby Union for nine years. Travelling around Europe and the world with rugby was my dream job and I loved it.

Wanting our kids to grow up around family, we moved back to NZ in 2015 and settled in Hamilton.

Starting a physio clinic was always something that I wanted to do and I am excited about working at Hale Health, with the excellent facilities and staff here.

Fitness Consultant Hamilton

Rachana

Fitness Consultant

Raised in Hamilton, I wasn’t too much of a sporty kid however from my teen years I started loving the gym and it became my escape, my time to do what I wanted without any judgements.

I became more interested in lifting weights, nutrition, doing yoga and going for those beautiful hikes around the Waikato, this is how my passion grew into my lifestyle. I’ve been studying a Bachelor of sport and exercise science at Wintec and have learnt so much over the 3 years.

Health is a journey and there’s no short fix to it, you really have to challenge yourself to get the results you want and be in it for the long run.  I believe the only thing you can control is yourself, therefore the best way to live is to look after your body and mind.

I’m excited to be part of the Hale health team, I can’t wait to share my knowledge to help you achieve your health and fitness goals.
